THE TRIPLETS BY STEFFEN SCHELLENBERGER

Starting from the simple chair form Steffen Schellenberger designed those stylish furniture collection of functional objects.Named for the three chairs in the collection, the series also focuses on the three component parts of a chair; legs, seat and back.

Says Schellenberger, "By playfully manipulating the conventional proportions of a chair, the basic idea of the triplets changes the character and functionality of the furniture." The Triplet chair with an extended backrest also serves as a coatrack.

"The triplets can be used in the hallway or entrance but certainly won't feel misplaced in the bath- or bedroom either." The Triplet chair with the long legs has a mirror as a backrest suggesting it could be used in an entranceway for a quick glance and/or to lace up a toddlers' shoes.

"Despite their individuality, the triplets will need the spatial proximity to at least one of their siblings to unfold their spirited character." The Triplet chair with the with the cabinet for a seat can be used for storage, for keys or small electronics.
