Boomerang Chair by Richard Neutra

"Richard Neutra’s name may be more synonymous with brilliant Modernist houses, but Neutra, like most architects of his era, applied his formal training to furniture as well. Manufacturer VS America is launching a series of Neutra-designed pieces, including the Boomerang chair, a design made in 1942 for the Channel Heights Housing Project, a development created for shipyard workers in San Pedro, California.

Says VS America CEO, Claudius Reckord, “Though Richard Neutra’s visionary architecture has put him squarely among the world’s modern masters, his mid-century modern furniture has been relatively unknown.” Set to launch in 2014, the Boomerang joins the Lovell Easy Chair, Tremaine Dining Chair and Alpha sofas, furniture from Neutra’s archives that was never put into production, as part of VS’s Neutra Collection."

Little Giant Chair by Signe Hytte

Description from the designer:
Little Giant is a simple arm chair in ash, with a honest design language. The design is
based on a tight and conceptual principle that stems from the Japanese Tatami
patterns. The chair has a conceptual expression, with a focus on: materiality , quality,
construction and emphasis on the detail. The details are an essential part of the design in
form of the visual and distinct joints that recur throughout the chair.
The cushion is also part of the chair's design and serves as a kind of upholstery. The
cushion contributes with a femininity and sympathy to the chair's otherwise stringent
design. The cushion is made from 100% wool with a heavy cotton filling. The cushion is
multi-functional and can be moved and placed around the chair as desired and inspires to
new and different ways of using the chair.
Little Giant has fine and delicate features, which stands in contrast to its slightly large and
quirky dimensions - therefore the name.

M6 chair by Joe Buttigieg

Some more information from the designer:
This chair is innovative and redefines the appearance of regular tubular steel chair forms. Designed through the play and manipulation of the material, while considering proportions, dimensions and ergonomics. This design fits into a box and stacks; these aspects appeal to manufacturers. A light chair that can be easily lifted off the floor onto a table appeals to buyers and shop owners. This chair is something new to the competitive contract market.

Boss Chair by Tobias Nitsche for Danzer

"More deformation means more stability in a chair with less material," explains Tobias Nitsche, who designed the chair during his studies at ECALin Lausanne.

Here's a short description from the designer:

Boss is a plywood chair that combines traditional woodworking techniques with the use of 3d plywood.

I worked in cooperation with the German company Danzer who is producing the material. Using their technology gives the chance to construct a plywood chair with a more radical curvature.

Circumflex is an interpretation of the accent chair. Similar to a circumflex used in punctuation, the chair represents a lively change in tone. Simple details as well as the union of rich solid wood, lustrous plastic and bent steel, make the piece truly distinctive. This prototype is the first member of a series of chairs, bar stools and benches with similar playful proportions. Circumflex can be produced in a multitude of lively colors and wood finishes which can easily adapt to any space or context.

The Standard chair was originally designed in wood with thicker back legs, as these take more weight. Vitra is now producing the design with a plastic seat and back as a model named Standard SP, which has matte powder-coated metal legs.
