"Richard Neutra’s name may be more synonymous with brilliant Modernist houses, but Neutra, like most architects of his era, applied his formal training to furniture as well. Manufacturer VS America is launching a series of Neutra-designed pieces, including the Boomerang chair, a design made in 1942 for the Channel Heights Housing Project, a development created for shipyard workers in San Pedro, California.
Says VS America CEO, Claudius Reckord, “Though Richard Neutra’s visionary architecture has put him squarely among the world’s modern masters, his mid-century modern furniture has been relatively unknown.” Set to launch in 2014, the Boomerang joins the Lovell Easy Chair, Tremaine Dining Chair and Alpha sofas, furniture from Neutra’s archives that was never put into production, as part of VS’s Neutra Collection."
