"Through this project, we explore a few different ways to join two objects. It was very exciting to see a typical and ordinary component such as a joint became a major characteristic of a chair."

Six rabbit joints made of bio resin are used in the Rabbit Joint Chair to hold the seat, back and legs together. To make the joinery, rabbit ears are carved on the seat and several holes aligned with the ears are drilled on the leg. Bio resin is then poured into the rabbit ears until the resin flows into the holes and fills all the paths.

In Between Chair by Sami Kallio for &Tradition

Designed by Sami Kallio and dubbed the In Between chair, it is made in ash and oak and comes with a crescent-shaped back and armrest that attaches to the seat through three wood veneer panels. It’s a beautiful clash between the industrial process of manufacturing and the traditional techniques that make us think of hand-crafted wooden furniture.

Kirk Chair by Patrick Frey for Vial

"To create the Kirk chair, Patrick Frey precisely cut a special aluminium alloy so it bent into the desired shape.He used clamps to sculpt the seat shell over a frame formed by the tubular aluminium legs and back, then folded the edges to increase stability.The seat curves up at both sides to meet the lower bar of each armrest and swoops right to the top of the back, leaving large gaps in the corners.Designed for Vial to be used both outdoors and in, the chairs are stackable for easy storage and transportation."
